Meet Leadership & Mental Health Speaker for College Students, Maria…

Maria is a former frazzled college perfectionist turned certified professional coach, transformational nutrition educator, award-winning author, national mental health speaker, leader and change-maker. She is becoming the “calm” voice for a new generation of high achieving college student leaders and young professionals from around the world. Her book Campus Calm University won a gold medal in the 13th Annual International Independent Publisher Book Awards, and has been called, “groundbreaking, refreshing and as calming as a cup of peppermint tea, or an extension on that term paper due tomorrow morning.” She is the creator of the Campus Lead Her Success Kit, a personal leadership development product for female college students.  

Recognized as a leading spokesperson on perfectionism as a barrier to women’s leadership, mental health in college students and college student leadership, Maria speaks from the power of personal experience to college audiences on universities across the nation. Her book and speeches empower students to let go of the pressure to be perfect so they can lead with confidence, good health and resilience while creating a happy, successful college experience.

A first-generation summa cum laude college graduate, former anxiety-ridden college perfectionist and self-proclaimed recovering stressaholic, Maria is a trailblazing woman on a mission: to spread a dose of “campus calm” to emerging leaders worldwide. 

Maria lives in Buffalo, New York with her husband Shaun Maciejewski—her high school sweetheart and best friend (and Campus Calm’s ultra-talented website designer and marketing director!).

Maria’s Education

Maria is a summa cum laude graduate of Canisius College. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and History with a minor in Writing and a concentration in Women’s Studies.

Maria is also a graduate of the Allstate Minority and Women Emerging Entrepreneurs program offered through the University at Buffalo Center for Entrepreneurial Leadership. She was named 1st Place “Protégé of the Year” in the MWEE capstone business plan competition for her work with Campus Calm.  

In 2013, Maria graduated from iPEC, the Institute for Professional Excellence in Coaching, to fulfill her dream of empowering others to make sustainable positive change in their lives, and is a certified professional life coach and leadership development coach.

In 2015, Maria graduated from the Institute of Transformational Nutrition so she could empower her clients to transform their health through the power of nutrition like she did. Because when the waters are rough and things get hard, healthy, resilient students lead!

In 2016, Maria earned her ICF credential for demonstrating knowledge and proficient use of core coaching skills designed to ensure high standards for the coaching profession and the clients it serves.
