COLLEGE WOMEN STUDENT LEADERSHIP SPEAKER...

According to the American College Health Association’s Fall 2009 National College Health Assessment, stress is the number one impediment to academic performance on college campuses nationwide, followed by sleep difficulties, the common cold, and anxiety. Maria Pascucci, president of Campus Calm, has a message for rising leaders of today and tomorrow, "Those who love themselves enough to take care of themselves have the energy to be real leaders, problem solvers, and change-makers. Even the act of committing to being more self-loving in a world that too often values self-deprivation makes you a visionary and change maker." This presentation is perfect for women student leaders and the awesome young men who choose to lead alongside them.
Your rising student leaders will learn how to step into greatness by first choosing to be the leaders of their own lives.
Learning outcomes:
1. Focus inward to explore how they want to lead and serve in our world.
2. Recognize strategies for setting boundaries on their time.
3. Articulate the importance of taking care of themselves everyday.
4. Stop competing with their classmates and start networking.
5. Examine the power in asking for help when they need it.
6. Model skills to lead their campus communities to find "campus calm" and live their best lives.
And much more!

Maria's story: "I graduated summa cum laude from college in 2001 with a double major, a minor, a concentration in Women's Studies and two part-time jobs. I also graduated with stress and anxiety induced health problems that no one knew about. In my journey called 'life', I led myself to go from a burnt-out overachiever to a happy, healthy and successful young entrepreneur who created a thriving business straight from my imagination. I stepped into authentic leadership by first learning for myself that 'Success Starts With Self-Love'. Today, I'm privileged to empower college women and men to discover the new paradigm of success and leadership, characterized by joy, passion, purpose and healthy relationships."

Maria led her college women leadership presentation at the 2010 National Conference for College Women Student Leaders (NCCWSL). College women leaders from around the world were asked to fill out an anonymous survey rating each workshop they attended. Below is a sampling of their comments rating "Success Starts With Self-Love" courtesy of the NCCWSL staff:
The speaker was fantastic. She had a great delivery and an even better message. This topic is of the UTMOST importance for women, as we tend to take on all the leadership roles and the extra stress without managing ourselves. You MUST bring her back next year!!!!
This presentation needs to be noted for its true influence of positivity within a leader’s soul. I have never experienced such a cleansing of guilt or shame before in my life. I commend NCCWSL for having found a powerful and amazing presenter. I felt that not only was the presentation well prepared and educational but it has changed my life in a positive way. This presenter truly spoke from the heart and allowed me to give myself permission to be myself and love myself. I loved every single piece of this workshop with every ounce of my soul. Thank you!!!
GREAT session! Speaker was informative, yet candid, and she did a great job of interacting with the listeners. She spoke from experience and seemed approachable. I will definitely use the information that I learned to create an environment that is more conducive to success on my campus and beyond!
I really enjoyed this workshop and plan to bring her to our campus.
She opened my eyes in ways I never thought I could.
The presenter was very engaging and she was down to the student's level of communication. Though it was formal it felt like she was one of us.
This presentation really made me stop and rethink how I looked at not only myself as a woman, but at other females. I enjoyed this presentation and the presenter!!
She was fabulous and as a parent, I was thrilled to see that there is someone out there concerned with the issue of college student suicide and self-loathing. I love the fact that she is improving the world around her and am grateful for the information she shared. Loved her!

What other college women leadership clients and students are saying ...
I have spent a lot of time worrying about pleasing others. "Success Starts With Self-
"really helped show me that success can be achieved by taking care of myself first.

Maria Pascucci is a great role model who related very well with our audience while leading her presentation at our student empowerment fair. Thank you so much for such a positive experience!
~ Trish Higgins Glose, Professor, Social Science, Erie Community College South Campus
I really enjoyed the speech you gave at Radford University. I took
plenty of notes; one statement you said that stuck in my mind is,
‘It takes courage to make mistakes.’ I guess I had never thought
about mistakes being an okay part of life. I hope you give many
more speeches to help college students like me!
~ Mary Askins, Freshman, Radford University
As a current college student, I know what the meaning of "stressed-out is. After attending Maria's lecture, she taught me to remove the word "can't" from my vocabulary, and instead think about how something can/should be done. Her organization offers support for students and teaches them to "chill out." I feel more relieved and stress free after attending her presentation, and wish she taught a Stress Management class at my school!
~ Brigid Randisi, Sophomore, Canisius College
Dear Maria,
I just wanted to let you know that when you came to UVA a few weeks ago and talked to my feminism club and the event for "love your body week," whatever you said has been helping me not freak out as much during these two hell weeks of final exams and final papers. I guess you just providing me with some perspective and that helped me be conscious of not letting my stress get out of control. I'm still really stressed with four papers and four finals all due within a span of 10 days (ridiculous amounts of work), but I'm not doing what I normally do when I get stressed. In the past, I would stress-eat, get stressed about the amount of food I ate, and would make myself throw up. I'm still trying to figure out how to manage my stress this week because there doesn't seem to be any way around all the work I have, but I feel a lot better than last time this happened (no more stress eating!) and I thank you for it. So thank you again for coming and giving me the perspective I need to get through the next week.
