I’m constantly on the hunt for new sources of inspiration. Last week, I was reminded of one such source in the form of a TV show that has had me motivated every since. The show is called, “The Buried Life,” and it aired on MTV a year or so ago. For those of you unfamiliar with this show, it’s about four guys traveling around the country trying to complete their own bucket list. On the list is a 100 or so items and these guys have checked off such items as “play basketball with Obama”, “ask out the girl of their dreams”, and even “help deliver a baby.” In addition, for every task they complete, these guys also help someone else complete a dream of theirs’. It’s pretty heroic and downright motivational.
The reason why I wanted to share my interest in this show is to get you to think about what you might want to do before you die. It’s a pretty bold question, but often we become so complacent in our life that we forget to set goals or dream beyond tomorrow. We might write things off as impossible due to our gender, race, class, age, sexuality, etc., or maybe it’s just because we’re scared. Whatever the reason might be, is it really enough to stop you or is it just an obstacle that can be tackled with enough courage or perseverance?
I encourage you all to create your own bucket list and dream big! Often the first step in any goal is being brave enough to just simply write it down…
Feel free to comment below and share some of your own items!
The beginnings of my list…
- Say I’ve “mastered” something…. Hopefully either a foreign language or an instrument.
- Have a job I LOVE.
- Hug an elephant.
- Have my own family one day.
- Help to have changed someone’s life.
