HOW CAN I SPOT TRAIN TO FIX MY STUBBORN AREAS?
Having been in the fitness industry for over 20 years, it never ceases to amaze me that one of the main concerns I hear from men and women is about spot training their stubborn areas. As you may know, spot training to reduce fat is virtually impossible, since fat distribution is due to eating habits, lifestyle, and genetics.
Having said this, you can incorporate several movement forms to assist in strengthening and toning your most stubborn areas. One of the best modalities I have come across is Pilates, especially using Pilates Equipment.
As a movement practice Pilates teaches you how to initiate movement from your core, and helps to develop strong, toned, defined abs. Not only will you develop a stronger core, but your entire body- including all the tiny little muscles in your chest, back, arms, and legs become stronger, leaner, more toned, and defined, when Pilates exercises are performed correctly.
All of my clients (yes, men and women) notice significant differences in their overall strength, endurance, flexibility, posture, and body line, by incorporating Pilates at least twice a week, into their fitness regime.
