Is it ever good enough?

It’s great that you want to set high standards for the work you do. But you don’t have to be perfect all the time. Perfectionism is a self-induced stressor.
I spent the first twenty-five years of my life trying to please my dad. He was a wonderful man, but he was also a perfectionist. It seemed like no matter what I did, it wasn’t good enough. I would mow the lawn, and he would mow over it. I would help him wash the car, and he would find the one spot I missed.
Over the years, I realized things didn’t have to be perfect to be good enough. I also realized my dad was very pleased with me and what I had accomplished. He just had a hard time showing it.
Throughout your life, you’ve heard people say, “Just do your best. That’s all we can expect of you.” This also applies to your career. You don’t have to be perfect to have a successful career; just do your very best.
