Ahhh, the thrill of graduation. A very exciting time indeed. New frontiers, new responsibilities and maybe even a new city! It’s also a time to make new friends. You’ll meet new friends at work and hopefully these new friends can help you grow as a person. Good friends will help you to reach your potential; not feel envious of your success. Bad friends will try to pull you down and keep you at their level. Maybe you have some bad college habits that you’re trying to shed as you develop into a young professional?
Bad friends will try to keep you immersed in these bad habits so they can feel better about themselves. Don’t fall for it.
Graduation is a time to evaluate your friends and it might be time to move to some who can help you grow. It’s time to fly with the eagles; not hang with the turkeys.
Since college, I have “broken up” with many friends that would not let me grow. These “friends” can be an anchor to your success journey and drain much positive energy.
Don’t feel guilty about breaking up with energy draining friends. You are just taking care of yourself. And if you don’t take care of yourself, you can’t take care of anyone else!
